It’s Peak Weight Loss Season – Are You & Your Practice Ready?

Apr 20, 2022

It’s peak weight loss season and I was just checking in to see if you and your practice are ready.  It’s currently April. Typically for medical weight loss there are 3 peak times when, as you know, when patients really start to look for some professional help. Those times are Jan/Feb, April/May, and Sept/Oct. That’s because it’s the New Year, people are getting ready for summer, and then people getting their lives back on track after a busy summer of kids, vacation, or work.  For medical weight loss, those are three peak seasons. For surgical weight loss it’s more stead throughout the year because people are meeting their criteria for their insurance or they’re working through self-pay. It’s more steady.  What do you need to do to make sure you’re ready?

Perhaps you have so many patients you don’t even have to worry about it. If that’s the case kudos to you. You probably don’t need to listen to the rest. If you’re someone who wants to maximize your opportunity to help people during these busy times, there are some really simple, inexpensive things you can do.

The first one is putting together a Jump Start Diet (if you do utilize nutritional supplements and that sort of thing) that patients can do and experience immediate weight loss. Develop a special around it and promote that to new and existing clients. It’s one way to generate some immediate revenue and help people lose weight right away and get that boost of confidence that they can do this. You want to make sure you’re giving them the information about long-term success.

The other thing you can do is utilizing social media. Put out some more articles about weight loss and tips. Keep them very simple. People don’t typically read more than 300 words at a time when they’re sitting down having coffee, or wherever they are. If you’re doing video, make sure you keep it at 5-10 minutes. You can do live video so easily now with your phone. Put some things out there on your private Facebook groups or Facebook page. You can do that now through Instagram too.  Make sure you’re putting things out there like recipes. Increase and boost your organic reach for your patients. At the end always have a call to action.  How can they get a hold of you? How can they participate in one of your programs? You can see which posts you’ve done that are doing well and do a simple inexpensive add.  Also make sure there’s a call to action and a way to reach you.  It’s a good way to gain new patients as well as helping your existing patients.

Another thing you can do is have a Back on Track program. It helps people get back to what they know they need to be doing.  Intellectually we often know what we need to be doing but often it’s difficult to put into practice and change our behaviors.

You could promote fitness classes if you offer that. All these things are easy ways for you to promote your existing or new services.  It helps to increase your new patients and re-engage your existing patients.

Those are my top tips. If you need help with anything or you’re thinking about adding medical weight loss, I have a turnkey program you could be implanting within the next couple weeks.
