Re-focus and Get a New Perspective

Jun 02, 2022

It’s a great time to get away and to get a new perspective on your personal life, personal health, or your business. I wanted to talk to you about where you’re in your business and you have that time where you just know there’s something that needs to change. You have this gnawing feeling inside of you that you know could either be more, or you’re just working yourself to death and you need to have some sort of a change. You need to re-focus what it is you’re about and what it is you want to accomplish, and how you can best serve your patients, yourself, and your staff. We have so many different things going on all the time in our lives and in our businesses that a fresh perspective can be really helpful.

I’m in my 50’s. About 15 years ago I had Lasik and it’s been wonderful!  I was told I’d need readers right away but I haven’t really needed them.  I’m always one of those people when you’re out at a restaurant I’m the one who can always read everything. Well it hasn’t been that way. You know how it is. Sometimes we are in denial. I just recently bit the bullet and got progressives. It was a little bit of an adjustment but I’ve actually like it. For Mother’s Day I actually asked for a set of progressive sunglasses. But now that I have these it gives me a whole new perspective. I can literally see the details on the trees like I could not see. I wonder how long I really haven’t been able to see that well. I can read things better. I can see from a distance better. I probably should have done this a long time ago. Isn’t that the way with business and things that go on? You put things off for so long because it’s potentially work or something you have to admit or something that you have to get honest about with yourself.

I wanted to share with you that you can change your perspective in a lot of different ways. One of them is just taking some time to be calm and think through things. You might say, “I don’t have time for that.” But getting away a little bit and getting a fresh perspective through being calm, talking to other people, learning new things, just taking time to yourself to get that new perspective, and being brutally honest with yourself about what your true goals are literally is transformative. We do site visits at our practice. I have the best time with site visits. People come down and they can just let loose. It’s a very easy time to be honest and to share ideas for them to get a new perspective about how to do things, add additional revenue streams, and how to take their frustrations and put together a plan where we can get the plan all mapped out. Whether they’re there for 1 day or 2 days or longer, it’s just amazing. I just finished one last week and it was so much fun. We work all day long, made all sorts of videos and social media, and we talked about self-pay and how to add retail, medical weight loss, and how to price your programs. We got into the nitty gritty details. At night we went out to dinner and just had a really great time having an open discussion.

It’s one of those things that I do encourage you to get away and re-focus your perspective and to be honest with yourself about what’s working really well and what has got to change in order for you to be happier. If things are going great for you, I applaud you. I think that’s really important. If not, I encourage you to think about just taking that time for yourself. If you’re ever interested in a site visit and coming down here let me know. It’s super fun. We drill right into it. Like I said, we do hands-on marketing, social media, retail, and just about every topic possible. It’s really super fun. Other times I go to practices which are really fun as well. Maybe it’s time for someone else to come in and give a fresh perspective in your practice. If you’re ever interested in either of those things, reach out to me: [email protected]
